Do power lines impact health? II
There are several reasons why the "wire-code classification" does not represent the fields from outside power lines inside the home, or allow us to deduce the source of the increase in leukemia incidence.
Fields from outside the home often constitute only a fraction of the fields that result from electrical wiring inside the home.
When measuring the actual fields in homes where leukemia was diagnosed, there was no association between the magnitude of the field and the incidence of leukemia or other types of cancer.
The "wire-code classification" correlates with other factors, such as the age of the home, housing density, and neighborhood traffic density - these factors (or some of them, or other unidentified factors) may be responsible for the increased incidence of childhood leukemia.
