Do Soft Drinks Cause Diabetes?
Summary

The study shows a connection between sugar-drinks and increased obesity and diabetes. The authors also note that consumption of sugar-drinks increases comsumption of other calories. This in itself should raise our awareness of drinking sugar, in that increase in obesity is related to many other illnesses. There is also epidemiological evidence that the increase in obesity in the United States parallels the increase in soft drink consumption.

Given these results, it would be prudent to avoid regular indulgence in sugar-laced drinks. There are many alternatives that should be considered, including water...
